Rugby Area Talent Trust has benefited from a significant donation from the Mayor of Rugby’s charity fund after being chosen as mayoral charity by Cllr Sally Bragg, who recently stepped down after her year as the town’s First Citizen.
RATT was delighted to receive a cheque for £2,450, a very significant boost to the young charity’s funds in only its third year.
In a letter to Cllr Bragg, David Head one of the founding trustees at RATT, wrote:
“On behalf of all of us at Rugby Area Talent Trust (RATT) and the young people we support, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you so very much for choosing us as one of your mayoral charities during your recently ended tenure.
The money raised during your year in office is a very significant amount to this fledgling charity and makes a huge difference to our plans. We have also enjoyed a growing profile as a result of our partnership, and on top of that we have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of several of your mayoral events and engagements.
Supporting young people is our aim, and I know from our conversations that this is also close to your own heart. New equipment and an additional grant round have been made possible by your choosing us.
So thank you once again and congratulations on a successful mayoral year.”
Young performers from the borough linked with RATT made several appearances at mayoral events during the year, including at the Civic Service, the Mayor’s Charity Gala Night, and the Mayor’s Town Tour by other county dignitaries.
“It has been great fun, has really raised our profile and obviously the money is very welcome”, said David. “We have also been very proud to have been a mayoral charity and we are now looking forward to building on that experience to support more talented youngsters from our town.”
